NWA Ireland MC and Reporter Shane Kenny recently had a chance to sit down with NWA Irelands Paul Tracey. Here’s what the NWA Ireland Co-promoter had to say. SK – NWA Ireland ‘Wired’ has come to the NWA Ireland Website. What are your thoughts on that and how did it come about ? PT – The ‘Wired’ thing came about just after Christmas and was really nothing to do with me. A couple of the top lads at the gym came up with the concept and I didn’t have a problem with it. It’s on the website now. The first few months will be hit and miss with it I’m sure but it can only get better. I don’t have much to do with it though. I just sat back and watched it all come together. It’s something different and something new. I don’t expect it to be perfect straight away but I look forward to seeing how it progresses. SK – Sean ‘Maxer’ Brennan recently picked up the NWA Ireland Title. How is he doing in your opinion as Champion and how highly is he rated at NWA Ireland ? PT – He’s doing great. Great wrestler, great worker and in awesome shape. He’s been with us a long time now and has developed into a fantastic talent. He has many good years ahead of him in this business and has the potential to go very far. SK – It seems that NWA Ireland has been quiet on the Live Event front the past few months. Can you comment on that ? PT – Yes we haven’t done as much so far this year as we have in other years. NWA Ireland is 3 years old this June and before that we ran a training school for just under 2 years. You get tired being a promoter. Fergal and I did all the ‘promoter’ stuff for a long time. It gets boring and you get sick of it. Nothing changes with it – it’s the same thing day in and day out and it can be very draining and thankless at times. Just after Christmas Fergal and myself handed over a lot of the running of NWA Ireland to a team of the main boys at the gym. So right now neither Fergal nor myself are too heavily involved in the day-to-day running of NWA Ireland. We just oversee it all, so I guess the promotion is in a state of transition. The lads running the promotion are just finding their feet and when they do I’m sure there will be more Live Events announced. If they need assistance from Fergal or myself all they have to do is ask – they know that. We never measured our success on the amount of Live Events we did and neither Fergal or me need or want the hassle of being full time promoters anymore. Its something we did but also something that we are happy to leave behind for the moment. I’m still directly involved with the coaching at the gym and the gym is as busy as ever and training is getting tougher and tougher all the time with more of an emphasis being put on fitness and conditioning. Everyone is benefiting from it and things are going well. | ||||
